Hope you've been having a nice weekend! I'm one fitting and knitting a 40s pullover series post away from my sleeve tutorial. I really appreciate the comments I've received on my posts and on Instagram and Facebook. I can't tell you how happy it makes me to hear I'm helping someone come to understand knitting just a little more (knitting math! it's a good thing!), or helping someone to attempt a technique or alteration ... Fit & knit a 40s pullover series: row gauge, armholes and shoulders
I'm actually getting close to the end of my fitting and knitting a 1940s pullover series if you can believe it! Don't worry, I know it's going by quickly so I'll do a roundup of all the links for future reference at the end of this series. :) I last talked about resizing the body of the vintage knitting pattern I'm working on, the Cable Pullover No. 3298. knitting pattern. It's lengthy enough that I've broken it up into two parts, so Part 2 will come tomorrow. And we'll leave things like armhole decreases, the neckline, shoulders and sleeves for later on in the series. What if I just changed the yarn weight & gauge? As you know, I'm ... Read more »
Fit & knit a 40s pullover series: figuring out the expected finished size
Thanks for all the lovely comments about my Dragonflies Jumper! ♥ Today is the next installment of my fitting and knitting a 1940s pullover series. When last we met, I talked about how I look at a knitting pattern, the stitch gauge and yarn weight. Today, we're going to look at the knitting pattern and figure out what size the finished sweater will actually be. As you might expect, a lot of things hinge on knowing the ... Read more »
Dragonflies Jumper for fall
My latest knitting project is off the needles! And on my back, well, pretty much every single day since I finished it. The pattern is Dragonflies Jumper (that's a link to the pattern on Ravelry) by designer Joji Locatelli. As soon as I saw the dragonfly stitch pattern I fell in love with this sweater. As it happens, the designer was having a fall knit-along in her Ravelry group, so I joined in the ... Read more »
