Brown plaid dress

December 4, 2017 by Tasha 16 Comments

Early in September, I was having a hard time finding direction for my sewing. I blame the change of seasons. I couldn't figure out what I wanted to make, or I'd want to make things I didn't actually feel like taking the time to make, or I just wasn't sure what I wanted to be wearing... things like that. I may not follow modern trends in fashion, but that doesn't mean I don't go through phases of things I prefer, want to ... Read more »

Joan C.’s flannel skirt

January 26, 2015 by Tasha 38 Comments

I've been sewing slowly so far in 2015. Thinking about my two coat projects, taking my time, and just knitting more, I guess. But I finally finished up a skirt I've had mostly done except for the hem for nearly 2 weeks! This is my first pattern for Marie and Kerry's Vintage Pledge. I pledged to sew from 5 vintage patterns this year, which should theoretically be easily do-able! This is McCall's 3853 from 1956, a nice ... Read more »

My finished Fall for Cotton blouse

September 30, 2013 by Tasha 37 Comments

My Fall for Cotton project is complete! I wasn't able to accomplish as much as I planned, but I do have a nice new blouse.   I sewed McCall 4854, a blouse pattern from 1942. As you may recall from my project plans, I used a vintage cotton fabric in my stash, along with red vintage buttons, and I sewed the buttonholes by hand with vintage red buttonhole twist. The buttonholes are probably my favorite ... Read more »

Fall for Cotton: My project plans

September 1, 2013 by Tasha 18 Comments

Thanks for all the wonderful comments about the new blog design! I'm just bursting with excitement about it. :) Well sew-alongers, it's taken me awhile to decide what I want to sew for Fall for Cotton! There are so many inspiring patterns being posted in the Flickr group. And today is September 1st so you know what that means—it's our official sewing start date. Yay! Well, it turns out Rochelle and I are going ... Read more »

History is riding on my back: not-quite-Me-Made-May blouse & skirt

May 7, 2013 by Tasha 41 Comments

Thanks for all the nice comments about my last handmade outfit post! ♥ If you haven't noticed, there hasn't been a peep on here about Me Made May. Here's the deal. I've wanted to participate in MMM for the two years and thought finally, I'm ready to do this challenge! But then the bathroom remodel came up, so it seemed a bit silly to dress in me-made clothing in the middle of a construction zone. Plus, we'll be in the ... Read more »

My 40s gray wool skirt & feedsack blouse

April 26, 2013 by Tasha 58 Comments

As I mentioned in my last post, while I'm in bathroom-land I'm going to catch you up on some of the things I sewed towards the end of winter and beginning of spring! I think after this post I still have three things (with a possible soon fourth) left to show you, one of which may even result in a mini tutorial when I come back up for air in June after our trip. What can I say, sewing has really become a big deal for me ... Read more »
