Legendaire pullover - new knitting pattern release

I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve just released my first sweater knitting pattern! Meet Legendaire, a vintage-inspired pullover.

Legendaire gets its inspiration from 1950s vintage batwing-sleeve sweaters. It has a unique style with a modified drop shoulder construction and fitted body, dramatically shaped bracelet-length sleeves, and a boatneck neckline.

There are two versions in the pattern! Version One has allover stripes with a short turtleneck, and Version Two has a solid body and striped sleeves with a plain ribbed neckband. Both have a garter stripe pattern throughout to add just a bit of texture.

Legendaire is a size inclusive pattern, in twelve sizes from 30-62″ / 76-157.5cm, with a recommended 2-3” / 5-7.5cm negative ease.

There are three pages of customization tips in the pattern, lots of notes to help you along the way, plus yardage requirements for a non-striped version. (Hint: it makes a great staple sweater in a solid!)

I was so fortunate to have a fantastic group of test knitters, who knit up lots of wonderful versions! It was such a great experience to follow along as so many talented, enthusiastic knitters worked on Legendaire. Having that much support right from the start was more than I could ever have hoped for.

Sizing

Choose a size that is approximately 2 – 3” / 5 – 7.5cm smaller than your full bust.

Sizes: 30 (32, 35, 38, 41) [44, 47, 50, 53] (56, 59, 62)” / 76 (81.5, 89, 96.5, 104) [112, 119.5, 127, 134.5] (142, 150, 157.5)cm

Yarn requirements in recommended yarn

Harrisville Shetland (217 yds / 198m per 1.76 oz / 50g skein)

Version One (striped body and sleeves, turtleneck)

Color A (Lime): 2 (2, 2, 2, 2) [2, 3, 3, 3] (3, 3, 3) skeins
Color B (Kiwi): 2 (2, 2, 2, 2) [2, 3, 3, 3] (3, 3, 3) skeins
Color C (Red): 3 (3, 3, 3, 4) [4, 4, 4, 4] (4, 4, 4) skeins

Version Two (solid body, striped sleeves)

Color A (Pink): 1 (1, 1, 1, 1) [1, 2, 2, 2] (2, 2, 2) skeins
Color B (White): 1 (1, 1, 1, 1) [1, 2, 2, 2] (2, 2, 2) skeins
Color C (Red): 4 (4, 5, 5, 5) [5, 6, 6, 6] (6, 7, 7) skeins

Sizes 47-62 will use about exactly one full skein of Colors A and B for Version Two, however two skeins have been recommended so you don’t come up short.

For one with a turtleneck, you’ll need: 1235 (1270, 1330, 1385, 1485) [1535, 1630, 1685, 1790] (1840, 1885, 1940) yds / 1130 (1165, 1220, 1270) [1360, 1405, 1495, 1545] (1640, 1685, 1725, 1775)m
For one with a plain ribbed neckband, you’ll need: 1160 (1200, 1265, 1320, 1415) [1455, 1550, 1605, 1705] (1760, 1795, 1850) yds / 1065 (1100, 1160, 1210, 1295) [1335, 1420, 1470, 1560] (1610, 1645, 1695)m

Gauge
24 sts / 40 rnds = 4” / 10cm in garter stripe pattern using 3.25mm (US 3) needles, or size needed to obtain gauge.

Supplies
-3.25mm (US 3) needles
-2.75mm (US 2) needles, for ribbing
-Stitch markers
-Scrap yarn, to place sts on hold

Techniques needed
Cast on, bind off, knit in the round and flat, three-needle bind off (instructions provided), knit, purl, basic increases and decreases, picking up stitches, changing colors, reading a basic chart.
