Adventures in recreating the 1940s bust silhouette

October 12, 2011 by Tasha 87 Comments

This post is a long time in the making! Grab a cup of tea and sit down for a spell.Let's talk about something that most people, vintage aficionados or not, probably don't even think much about: the bust line silhouette. A delicate combination of the bra you're wearing and, well, whatever you've got in that bra.I don't like typical modern round cup bras. You know the kind, it's the shape of probably 95% of the bras on the ... Read more »

Shoes and plaids

October 4, 2011 by Tasha 18 Comments

Hi everyone! Thank you all so, so much for your compliments on my beret and gloves set! I'm so glad you liked them. They really were fun... okay, except the fingers on the gloves, but you already knew that. ;)This week is busy, busy, busy with projects, and I fear I don't have much time to write! So I thought I'd just share a few photos from the weekend. We inadvertently went out on Saturday both wearing plaid. My plaid ... Read more »

The Vintage Bazaar

September 19, 2011 by Tasha 14 Comments

Yesterday was the Vintage Bazaar in Logan Square. It's what they call a pop-up flea market and has been held in different locations. It's an event that I somehow didn't know about until May, and we were unable to attend the last one. So this was our first time.It was held in and outside an old historic theater, the Congress Theater. Sadly I have no photos from the event except one! It was a drizzly, humid, dreary day and ... Vintage Rennaissance

Vintage Renaissance

August 16, 2011 by Tasha 16 Comments

No, not a vintage renaissance, vintage in the Renaissance. The Renaissance Faire, that is! This past Saturday we went with our friends to the Bristol Renaissance Faire, which has become somewhat of a tradition for us. It's just across the border from Illinois in Wisconsin. The weather, while sunny in the morning, wasn't going to stay ideal for long. But we were been running out of weekends to go, so it was a "now or ... Read more »

Stripes and polka dots outfit

August 12, 2011 by Tasha 13 Comments

Happy Friday!I just have a little outfit post for today. This was actually an outfit I wore a few weeks ago when it was ungodly hot out. I tried to be as cool and comfortable as possible, while wearing a new pair of shorts I bought.Outfit details: sailor top from Bombshell Shocked, high-waisted shorts made by Sunny Threads via eBay, espadrilles from Mod Cloth, purse made by Milloo on Etsy.My hair was being uncooperative ... Campus-inspired vintage fashions for fall

August 9, 2011 by Tasha 23 Comments

Autumn! Crunching leaves, cooler temperatures...oh I know, I know, it's still summer! But if I don't start thinking about fall/winter sewing and knitting now, I may not get to the projects I have in mind until it's starting to warm up again next year! August is when everyone involved in school life beings to gear up for the start of a new school year. While my own 10-year college reunion took place two years ago, ... Read more »
