Cardigan twins?

March 3, 2011 by Tasha 14 Comments

Today the funniest thing occurred, and something rare in the life of a knitter, I think.A new reader to my blog, Miss Margarita, left me a comment this afternoon, and when I went to her blog I discovered an adorable photo of her... wearing a sweater I've actually knit for myself! Miss Margarita, I believe you and I may be cardigan twins! From her blog, it says it was knit for her as a gift (lucky duck!). To add even more ... Read more »

Finished project: Olivette cardigan

February 17, 2011 by Tasha 21 Comments

Today I finished a cardigan that I knit entirely to match one blouse. Yes, one blouse. Last fall, I bought a lovely short-sleeved silk blouse at one of our favorite antique malls. There's one booth that is always filled with clothes that fit both Mel and I. They aren't always our style, but when they are, the odds are in our favor that they'll fit. It's really weird. I love that booth. So I bought this blouse. I don't ... Read more »

Finished project: Birdie blouse

February 8, 2011 by Tasha 16 Comments

This weekend I finally finished up a languishing project! My birdie blouse, from vintage Simplicity #4256.I sewed view 3, which is a basic collared blouse with gathers at the shoulder and cuffed short sleeves (I omitted the pocket). I started this blouse about a month ago and it gave me fits in the beginning due to the collar. I'm still not completely convinced that the methods I've seen to attach a collar and facing are ... Vintage knitting pattern: Topnotcher

January 28, 2011 by Tasha 18 Comments

Happy Friday! For you vintage knit-alongers, just a little note to say I'm going to let the preliminary post simmer for a few more days to get more opinions, and then next week will reveal the winning pattern so we can start thinking about yarn and supplies. :) Today is cold. This is old news for Chicago in January. But I thought I'd share one of my favorite winter items: my  Topnotcher bonnet. You'll have to pardon ... Read more »

Finished project: Blenders blouse

January 18, 2011 by Tasha 16 Comments

I finally got photos of my first sewing project of 2011. It was a project I started last year. In fact, it was the last sewing project I touched last year. I am now not 100% sure why I tossed it to the side, but I know one reason was due to a beginner's error of not remembering that if you don't clip corners of an angle before trying to turn it, it's going to be lumpy and weird looking and you're going to think you did ... Happy New Year

January 6, 2011 by Tasha 5 Comments

I guess you could say it's been awhile since I've felt like blogging. Nothing happened, I just kept putting off posting photos from our Fall trip to Ireland and I turned around and bim, bam, boom! Suddenly it's 2011. Happy New Year! While the holiday season has only just finished up, I feel I can still be justified in posting the Christmas sweater I knit in December. Last year (oops, now the year before last-- look how ... Read more »
