Hello, friends! I greet you after a road trip to visit family over Christmas, with a project I sewed and photographed a few weeks ago but hadn't had the time to write about. Because I fully intended to write about this dress once I'd finished it, as it kind of surprised me how much I liked it. I originally had the idea to use this 1950s pattern, Advance 7747, with some Spoonflower cotton sateen in a winter print. So I ... Read more »

Dreamy boucle cardigan and a dress
How about something completely different? And by different, really I mean the same—I'm sharing a couple of finished projects. That's the bread and butter of what I do 'round here, after all. But it's been awhile since I've shared anything except the knitting patterns I've worked on this year, so I'm here to change that! Ironically part of this outfit started off as something I intended to make into a cardigan pattern ... Read more »
Welcome to Tasha Could Make That
I'm absolutely ecstatic to introduce you to my newly rebranded site! By Gum, By Golly is now Tasha Could Make That. Friends, I've needed the change for a long time. You never think when you pick a username for something that it might be kicking around more ... Read more »
50s topper coat for spring

Although it probably took another week to make the muslin and get all the pattern pieces ready (I talked about that in my last post). Sometimes I forget how labor intensive the prep is for coats! Lined things have so many pattern pieces and ... Read more »
50s topper coat for spring: the supplies
Back in September, I planned a coat for spring. I ordered the main supplies, but I never got it off the ground. I didn't pick it back up again until I was all set to sew the Charm Patterns swing ... Read more »
Ho ho hello
I haven't written a post on this blog since April of 2019. Wow have things changed since then. Not as much personally, but the world. You don't need me to recap the open wound of 2020, you were there. In my life, it's been mostly a quiet year, being careful and safe and trying to keep myself occupied throughout the pandemic and the pathetic, negligent handling by the dumpster fire of our thankfully-outgoing wannabee ...
