If you’ve followed me anywhere in the online realms for awhile, you’ll know that I sew myself a dress for my birthday every year. Last year was my first year of my YouTube channel, and my first year sewing a birthday dress on video.
My birthday isn’t until next week, but since I’m going to be out of town, you’re getting this year’s birthday dress video a little early! Watch me sew my birthday dress for 2024 on YouTube.
Like I said last year, I almost always use a vintage sewing pattern, and this year was no exception. I used a tried and true favorite, Simplicity 4432 from the early 1960s.
I just love this bodice. My only complaint is that my belts always ride up a bit with this bodice, so I shortened it a scant 1/4″ this year after comparing it to another bodice that doesn’t do that, but it didn’t help. (And I totally forgot to mention in the end of the video that it didn’t help, ha ha.)
For this year, I made a matching belt (something I almost always do these days), and poured a new silicone mold of a vintage Bakelite daisy shaped belt buckle slide, so that I could make a resin belt buckle. Plus I made a matching pair of earrings too. A whole handmade birthday dress outfit! ?
Hope you enjoy watching this year’s birthday dress video!
