Tasha Could Make That

Tasha Could Make That

Vintage knitting, sewing, and a lifetime of craftiness

Late summer entertaining

August 21, 2011 by Tasha 20 Comments

Thursday evening we entertained two of our close friends. I took some photos as I prepped, enjoying all the colors and patterns and the summery foods.

Don’t get me wrong, normally our coffee table looks like this. Magazines, remote controls, knitting needles and yes, a calculator I’ve had since grade school that I use for knitting math. That’s the usual reality of our living room. (Can you tell we’re going on vacation to New Mexico soon?)

But that evening it transformed slowly.

Tablecloth, too big for the table of course, I think was a gift from my mom several years ago…

A favorite vintage tea towel. Yes, I use them. Yes, I stain them. It shows they’re well-loved!

Strawberry buttermilk sherbet (that we ended up not eating that night because we forgot about it)…

Fresh bread, right out of the oven…

Depression glass that my step-grandmother gave me from her collection…

Tomatoes and mozzarella, one of our favorite summer treats. We forgot the basil at first!

A good time was had by all. And this is what it looked like at the end of the night after the table was cleared and the pets had their own party playing with the tablecloth!

    Great photography, toots!

I’m going to search for photos of ME wearing that red and dress, oh, nearly 30 years ago when you were just a sprout. I probably paid $2-3 for it at the thrift store then … and love that, as old as it was then, it’s been worn by two generations of crafty women since!

The depression glass goes so incredibly well with the bright fiesta colors! You are so good with mixing and matching – please come decorate my house! That includes the dishes and hand towels 🙂
I’ve been turning down depression glass from my mom for ages – now I’m thinking I might take her up on her offer. Although I have no clue where it will all go…
Awwwww, Pia is too sweet! Do you just cuddle and kiss her all of the time? Poor Moxie gets that from me constantly!

What a lovely table setting… and the food looks soo yummy!! I particularly love the coasters with the tray to the side. They are vintage, right? I would love to know how to make that sherbet. 🙂

Such a fun little set-up for entertaining! 🙂 I really love how colorful everything is–as well as a bit eclectic! I’m slowly trying to collect up some interesting old (and new) plates and glassware for the times we do entertain. Right now everything is a bit ho-hum–I need color! lol.

Love the pet hideout too this provided. 😉 lol.
