If you've been a regular to my blog for some time, you may have noticed I've done very little outfit-related posts this year. I admit it, I've had some style ennui. Seeing as this blog revolves around style in a lot of ways (though I've never considered myself a "fashion blogger" by a long shot), that's made blogging kind of difficult. I spent a long time trying to figure out what was bothering me. In the end, I think ... Read more »

Knit it in Flag Colors – finished Ravellenic Games project
Well hello my friends! I know, it's been awhile! I expected to share with you my progress on my project during the Ravellenic Games, Ravelry's knitting version of the Olympics that coincide with the Olympics. However, not only have I been caught up in watching the Olympics (London, you're doing an awesome job!), I had to change my project. I started off with fair isle legwarmers for autumn, but then couldn't watch the ... Read more »
Finished project: 1944 Apple picking dress
While my dad is in town, I lined up this post. My apologies if I'm a little scarce while he's here, I'm not going to be online much this week! Now, let's go apple picking! After all, I have the most perfectly applelicious dress for it. Can you tell I'm a little excited by my overzealous grin up there? (And yikes, what's with the 5 pounds of luggage under my eyes?) Yes, I'm pleased as punch with this dress. ... Read more »
Finished project: bias-cut green skirt
I have a new favorite skirt! Okay yes, it's not that exciting. But I've needed at least one (okay several) good, basic skirt for ages, and finally I sat down to change that. I can't tell you how many times I look into my closet, pick a blouse, then look at my skirts and think, "I'll wear this blouse with... what?" I sewed this bias-cut skirt from New York Pattern Creation 1730, which is probably from the early ... Read more »
Finished project: No-more-sewing-slump dress
I mentioned it in my giveaway post (one last day to enter!), but I finished the dress I was working on that finally kicked the sewing slump out of me. Yee haw! This pattern is a 1940s house dress, Simplicity 4660. You can see my copy is in really rough shape, but I couldn't resist it when I was searching for inspiration on Etsy a couple of weeks ago. No one really wears house dresses anymore, so who cares if I wear ... Read more »
Finished project: So neat and sweet jersey
Finally, I have a finished project to share with you all! It's about time. This is my latest sweater, with the delicate name of So Neat and Sweet in her Simple V-Necked Jersey (pattern link on Ravelry, my project page on Ravelry). It's from A Stitch in Time Volume 2. Now I know all of you other vintage knitters out there know about this fabulous book by Susan Crawford, of course. But I can't reiterate enough how ... Read more »
