I’ve really been on a roll sewing dresses! Like I’m sure many people, I go in cycles in terms of what I want to sew and what I want to wear. And lately, that’s been dresses. Granted, I type this while wearing a skirt and a top, but I’ve definitely leaned more towards dresses this year. And I just finished up a fabulous vintage dress! It’s featured in my latest YouTube video.
I used a 1940s sundress pattern, Simplicity 2465, that I sewed once before, 5 years ago. I love that dress sooo much, and this summer I decided to make another version as a maxi dress.
I even found the perfect vintage fabric to use and well… couldn’t use it. But you’re going to have to watch the video to find out why!
This turned out to be a perfect summer dress, and it’s so light and airy to wear. I had a lot of fun sewing this dress. The bodice has some tricks to it, like the halter straps and boning, which make it a little different than the more plain bodices I’m typically drawn to.
So if you enjoy fussy little sewing details like I do and you’re interested in seeing how I made this dress, be sure to check out my YouTube video!
