As it’s been getting warmer, I’ve been a busy bee lately with life stuff, and my sewing time has been less. You have to enjoy the warm weather when you can, and sometimes that means hanging out on my deck rather than holing up in the basement sewing! (Much as I love holing up in the basement sewing!)
But I recently finished sewing a vintage dress, and it’s the subject of my latest video on YouTube.
It’s another version of Simplicity 4432, a favorite of mine lately that I’ve made more times than have made it to the blog, but you can see a previous version I made last fall.
And I’ll give you a hint what’s a bit different about this version…
Yes, ribbon! I don’t embellish my sewing projects very often, but I decided this time that I wanted to try out ribbons and bows on the bodice, like one of the pattern views on the envelope.
I really had no idea if I was going to really like how it looked and like the choices I made in the process, particularly since I was using a busy floral fabric.
You’ll have to watch the video on YouTube to find out how it turned out in the end!
Just dropped in after following a trail about vintage bras. I love your work!
As you were fiddling with ribbon, I’m yelling at my screen for you to get out a Sewline glue stick.
The English Paper Piecing crowd these days use the glue method to attach to their papers in preference to stitching the paper to the fabric. And so useful in garment sewing too.
That dress is really lovely. It’s brilliant.
