I’ve got a great sewing technique for your facings to share with you in my latest YouTube video. And it might be something you’ve never heard of!
Basically, you face your facing. Yes, it sounds a little strange, I know! But trust me, this simple trick will give your facings a beautiful finish, without any hemming required. How’s that possible? You interface and seam your facing, all at the same time.
This method works with both fusible and sew-in interfacing, so it’s perfect for almost any facing application: modern, vintage, or period-appropriate, if that’s your thing.
In the video, I walk you through the process step-by-step for both fusible and sew-in interfacing. And you’ll find out why I think it’s especially useful for tricky sew-in interfacings, like silk organza–my favorite interfacing for sheer and eyelet fabrics! Plus, it creates a super smooth, elegant edge with fusible, too.
Ready to seam and interface your facings in one technique? Watch the full tutorial on my YouTube channel.
I talk about facings a lot on my YouTube channel. A LOT a lot. This is actually my third video focusing on facings in one way or another!
In my latest video, I also mention my other facing-related tutorials, like the all-in-one facing for dresses with center back zippers and the burrito method for pull-on garments. The facing technique I’m sharing today works perfectly with those methods, too!
This simple trick will change the way you think about sewing facings, giving you more options. And I’m a big fan of having options in sewing! It’s a fun, easy, and surprisingly useful trick to have in your sewing arsenal. Watch the video and give it a try!
