Summer may officially be coming to an end soon up here in the northern hemisphere, but it’s still quite hot out! So a bit more time for some fun summery projects! And I recently did a couple of YouTube videos you might like on that topic!
I teach you how to make a super simple DIY 2-color rope belt in today’s video. Which I made to go with the pedal pushers I sewed in last week’s video, where I also showed step-by-step how I designed myself shaped belt loops. You can follow along and do something similar if you’d like!
Watch me sew up the pedal pushers, which are a version of out-of-print Butterick B5895. It’s pretty much been my tried-and-true cigarette pants pattern for stretch woven fabrics for a decade. Though I’ve adjusted it a bit over time for my changing body shape, and probably could still use some adjusting! Pants can be like that. Thankfully, stretch fabrics are both comfy and a bit forgiving.
Then watch me make a really cute vintage-inspired rope belt, to match those pedal pushers!
While there are a lot of ways to make a rope belt, I really enjoy that this belt tutorial is SO FAST… honestly, it takes about 5 minutes. You could make a handful to match lots of outfits in a jiffy!
These pants have really inspired me to both embellish future pants, and to add belt loops to more pants, so I can wear more belts. I’ll see how I can spin these ideas for fall soon, too! ?
