This week is the Viva Las Vegas rockabilly weekender, and while we’re not attending, I’m reminiscing about the last time we went! Back in 2019, we attended, and I was a vintage sewing machine: I sewed a vintage capsule wardrobe, sewing a total of 10 outfits for the weekend, including two menswear shirts for Mel.
I KNOW.
Of the items in this more-is-more vintage capsule wardrobe, only one thing that made it to my blog (my tropical sarong-style rayon dress) even though it was my plan all along to share each outfit here! The best laid plans and all.
So this year, I decided to take a stroll down memory lane, and compiled a video which is all about every item I made for that Viva! You can watch my sewing video for Viva on YouTube.
Fun fact: in preparing for this video, I looked at dozens and dozens of photos from when I was sewing all these things, and then while we were attending Viva, trying to piece it all together and remember what patterns I used… and then only towards the end, did I realize I had a sewing journal that documented it all. ?
There’s a playsuit, a strapless dress, a one shoulder dress, two men’s shirts, a cross front top… and lurex appears twice, there was lots of vintage fabric used… oh goodness, just watch the video to learn about all this amazing vintage capsule wardrobe. I’m still so proud of it!
